The Global Export Company began exporting peanuts to a new market for the country - China. Deliveries were made under a contract with a major Chinese distribution company in the amount of $ 1 million.
This event was preceded by the signing in November 2019 of the Protocol on phytosanitary requirements for the export of Uzbek peanuts to China between Uzgoskarantin and the Main Customs Directorate of the PRC with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the PRC.
With the active participation of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China in 2017–2019, a set of issues was worked out to increase the range of supplies of Uzbek agricultural products to China, interdepartmental protocols on phytosanitary requirements were signed, which allowed to increase exports to the Celestial Empire by 14 items. Among them are fresh cherries, melons, hot peppers, pomegranates, mung beans, sesame seeds, raisins, dried apricots, walnuts, salty and sweet apricot kernels, grape seeds, peanuts and natural honey, EastFruit reports.
China is the world's largest producer of peanuts, as well as its importer. For example, in 2019, the volume of Chinese imports of peeled peanuts amounted to 405 thousand tons in the amount of $ 285 million. The main suppliers were African countries such as Senegal, Ethiopia, Sudan, as well as India and the United States. From now on, the number of peanut exporting countries to China has become one more country - Uzbekistan.
